Calacatta Rosa Marble Bathtub

1. Concept review: The client supplied a reference bathtub image and architectural space limits. Landiview Stone translated the desired sculptural character into dimensions that could be reviewed against the proposed location.

2. 3D model and shop drawing: The technical team built the bathtub geometry in three dimensions, then prepared plan, elevation and section views with principal dimensions, radii, material sections and the drain opening. Both deliverables were submitted for review.

3. Block selection: After approval of the geometry and drawing, available Calacatta Rosa marble blocks were presented for client selection. This is a normal approval step because a small sample cannot represent the veining and color distribution of an entire carved object.

4. 5-axis CNC machining: The approved digital model controlled machining of the selected block into the specified internal and external form. Machining establishes the principal geometry but does not replace skilled finishing or inspection.

5. Hand refinement and finish: Stone craftspeople refined transitions, rim contours, the basin interior and visible surfaces. Natural veins and fissures were assessed separately from structural cracks or machining damage; treatment and acceptance depend on location, stability, finish and the approved quality criteria.

6. Inspection and export packing: The completed bathtub was checked against approved documents and protected with product-specific cushioning, restraints and a robust wooden crate. Packing must consider concentrated weight, lifting points, movement control, edge protection, crate opening and destination rules.

For a block-carved bathtub, approval of the actual block is commercially important: carving removes a large volume of stone and exposes natural patterning that cannot be fully predicted from one external face.

Marble is dimension stone when it is cut or otherwise shaped into blocks, slabs or finished units. ASTM C503/C503M addresses material characteristics, physical requirements and sampling for marble used in general building and structural purposes; project professionals should identify the applicable tests and acceptance criteria rather than treating a trade name as a performance specification.
